I am delighted to welcome everyone to the 2023-2024 school year. Whether you are a student, parent, teacher or staff member, I hope you had a restful and rejuvenating break and are ready to embark on another exciting journey of learning and growth. The start of a new school year brings a sense of anticipation and opportunity. It is a time to set goals, forge new friendships and explore new possibilities. I encourage you to approach this year with enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence.
I am incredibly proud of the accomplishments of our schools. Consistently, our students have scored exceptionally well, earning the top marks in many testing categories statewide. These achievements reflect the hard work and dedication of the system, especially our students, teachers, administrators and families who go above and beyond to ensure that everyone thrives and has the resources they need to succeed.
Our dedicated teachers and staff have been diligently preparing for your arrival. They have designed engaging lessons and created a nurturing environment, and they are ready to provide the support you need to achieve at the highest levels. I am confident they will continue to inspire and guide you throughout the year.
Even though our county continues its high rate of growth, this is the first time in several years that we do not have a new school opening. We will have a busy summer next year as we complete construction on three new K-8 schools opening for the 2024-2025 school year. They are K-8 School NN, located at 855 Timberwolf Trail in the Shearwater development, K-8 School OO, located at 1455 Twin Creeks Dr. within the Beacon Lakes portion of the Twin Creeks development and K-8 School PP, located at 2505 RiverTown Main Street in the RiverTown development.
Students, I want to remind you that education is a collaborative effort. Take advantage of the resources and opportunities available to you. Embrace challenges, ask questions and push yourself to reach new heights. Remember, education is not solely about grades; it is about personal growth, character development and discovering your passions.
Parents and guardians, your involvement and support are crucial to your child’s success. Stay connected with your child’s teachers, attend school events, and encourage open communication. Together, we can create a strong partnership that fosters a positive learning environment.
I am so thankful to have the opportunity to serve as superintendent of St. Johns County Schools. I sincerely thank every parent and family in our district for your continued support. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. Let’s work together to make this school year a memorable and impactful one. I wish each of you a rewarding and successful journey together.
