As I sit down to write this letter to our Flagler County community and our Flagler Schools families, I am humbled to have been given the opportunity to lead this district in an interim role. Flagler Schools is where I found my voice as an educator and where I have been mentored by some of the best educational leaders I’ve had the pleasure of working with.
It is amazing how busy this summer has been as we prepare to welcome students back to school on Aug. 10. Our schools have been cleaned inside and out, and our teachers and staff have spent time in professional development so they can best support the 13,000 children who will continue their paths to graduation.
My goal for this first semester is simple: to share with you all the great things our students, teachers, staff and administrators are doing in our classrooms, on our campuses and around our community.
Our theme for the year is “Flagler Forward.” I’ve asked our employees to keep moving this district forward because, as the old adage goes, “You can see a lot more through a windshield than a rearview mirror.” We all need to work together to make Flagler Schools the best district in the state, and I am confident we can do that.
In the weeks and months ahead, I will share messages and updates with our students, faculty, staff and parents, encouraging them to keep moving Flagler Forward. I’ll use all the tools at my disposal: our website, social media, our local news outlets, wherever anyone will share time or space. The success of our students means success in this community.
I invite all of you to join us on this journey, building on how we elevated excellence over the past 12 months. I promise you; it will be a rewarding experience for all of us.
Flagler Forward,

LaShakia Moore
Superintendent, Flagler Schools
