May is an exciting time for the Flagler Schools as we celebrate Teacher and Employee Appreciation Week at the start of the month. This is a time to recognize and celebrate the tireless work of our educators and support staff, who are committed to elevating excellence in our schools.

Teachers play a vital role in shaping the future of our society. They are responsible for imparting knowledge and life skills to our students, preparing them for the challenges of the world beyond the classroom. Their hard work, dedication and passion are invaluable in creating a better future for our communities.

We want to take a moment to honor our teachers and thank them for their outstanding contributions. From the pre-kindergarten teacher who patiently teaches the basics of reading and writing to the high school teacher who inspires students to pursue their passions, every teacher in our district deserves recognition for their hard work.

In addition to the academic skills they impart, teachers also serve as role models, mentors and friends to their students. They provide a safe and nurturing environment for our children to learn and grow, and their impact on the lives of their students cannot be overstated.

Beyond the classroom, our support staff plays a crucial role in ensuring that our schools run smoothly. From the bus drivers who transport our students to and from school every day to the custodians and plant services team who keep our buildings clean and safe and the cafeteria workers who provide nutritious meals, every member of our support staff is an essential part of the team.

We value the opportunity for us to recognize and celebrate the contributions of our support staff. They work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our schools are safe, clean and welcoming places for our students to learn and grow.

I hope you join me in saying to all the teachers and staff in Flagler Schools, we appreciate you and all that you do. You are the backbone of our education system, and your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. We are grateful for your commitment to our students and our community.

Elevating Excellence,

Cathy Mittelstadt
