Fall….

School is back in session. We are looking forward to Halloween, pumpkin patches, hayrides and harvest.  All these wonderful things can be centered around one thing – our children. As parents, this time of year gives us a great opportunity to spend time with our children doing different things, playing make believe and honoring the bounty that we enjoy from the land.

No discussion of October would be complete without mentioning Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our partner, Radiology Associates, has provided a great article on mammography and the importance in the fight against this disease. Early detection is key!

We are excited to bring you the first article from our new contributer, Brianna Carter.  She is a mom from St. Augustine and a blogger. We welcome her into the Parent Magazines Florida family. She has compiled and reviewed a list of great fall activities! Check them out, take lots of pictures, and tag us on social media. Follow Brianna on @mama.knows.nada, check out her blog and her book: www.positivelypenelope.com.

We also have included some ideas on homemade costumes and scary food ideas. Making these items with your kids will be fun and spark their creativity!

And because no issue would be complete without an educational component, we have included how to continue STEM outside the classroom and tips on boosting your child’s reading skills.

Hoping you have a wonderful month,

Dr. Barbara
