Volusia County Schools is excited to introduce its newest school – Beachside Elementary – being created by combining Ortona and Osceola Elementary schools.
The Beachside Elementary Sea Turtles’ school colors are navy blue, lime green and white.
For the 2021-2022 school year, Beachside will be housed on the current Osceola campus in Ormond Beach, while the new school facility is constructed nearby at the Ortona site in Daytona Beach.
Students who attended Ortona or Osceola this past year, as well as new students coming in, will start school at the new Beachside Elementary at 100 Osceola Avenue, Ormond Beach, on Monday, August 16.
For current students of both schools, Ortona and Osceola, there is no need to re-register. Those students are automatically enrolled at Beachside.
For new students coming into our school, welcome! VCS asks that parents make an appointment with the school registrar by calling 386-258-4669 to complete the registration process as quickly as possible.
Beachside families should know there will be some changes to the parent drop-off and pick-up area and bus loop for the new school year. The two areas will be switched to help with traffic flow. Parents who are bringing their child via car will use Osceola Avenue to enter the car loop and will exit on Seminole Avenue. The bus loop will be at Lucky Drive. Students who live more than two miles from the school are eligible for bus transportation. The school will reach out to families to make those arrangements this summer.
Teachers are setting up their classrooms at the temporary campus, and everything will be ready to welcome students in August!
The new facility to be built for Beachside Elementary will open at the Ortona site, located on North Grandview Avenue in Daytona Beach, in the 2022-2023 school year (expected opening is between August and December 2022). One existing building will remain, but other facilities will be replaced with a modern design based on a prototype used at Pierson Elementary School. The new two-story school will serve 765 students and have 94,944 square feet.
