Welcome to our Go Green Issue!

When you hear “Go Green” one usually thinks about environmentally sustainable practices to protect our environment. It is a term that is widely used in our society today. It connotes different things to different people but basically for me, it is a slogan to encourage people to choose environmentally friendly behaviors. However, in our “go green” issue of Parent Magazine, we have chosen to share information on the importance of having kids get outdoors in the environment to play. Read Happy Health Kids: Eight reasons to Embrace Outdoors by Jan Pierce.

One area of concern we regularly hear from our readers is the ongoing struggle parents face each morning as they work to get the kids off to school each day. In the article, School Mornings without Stress by Beth Arky of The Child Mind Institute has given us some tips on how to make the morning transitions stress free.

We are also covering exciting things happening in the school district and have included our recurring Legally Speaking, Doc Talk and Book Nook columns. As Spring approaches, so does an increase in festivals and great outdoor events. Subscribe to our weekly things to do e-newsletter to stay informed on happenings around the county! The subscription form can be found on our website, www.parentmagazinesflorida.com.

We welcome your feedback and appreciate the fact that you continue to make the magazine better!

Next month, we will be helping you with your summer plans with our Camp and Travel issue. Our website contains a searchable directory of camps in the area. If you are the director of a camp and wish to be included, there is a form where you can submit your information.

Wishing you all a wonderful March!
