Spring is in the air!

The flowers are blooming, trees are more vibrant than ever and we find ourselves spending more time outdoors. As the seasons change and the school year nears the finale, the excitement of summer

is soon to follow.

If you’re like me, you’re planning ahead for the summer vacation and what you and your family will be doing. It’s the time of year when we start discussing, with our kids, the idea of summer camp. For some, it will be their first adventure and the possibilities are limitless. For others, it will be the return to camp and a rekindling of friendships made during those past trips.

This issue of Parent will offer some tips on how to make that first foray to camp a success. From day camp to sleep away camp, our area has plenty to choose from that will excite even the most selective children. We hope you’ll find the digital summer camp guide helpful in choosing the perfect one for your child. You can find it by visiting www.parentmagazineflorida.com.

While juggling the many responsibilities we have as parents on a day-to-day basis, we often forget that we need to take care of ourselves too, so that we can be our best selves for our families. This month we’ve included “Heart Healthy Tips for Women,” addressing the often underreported issue of heart disease. It’s critical that we manage our stress, care for our bodies and minds, and get checkups, to ensure we are in tip top shape. The American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign, focusing on women’s heart health, took place in February; but, we want to encourage you to make it a priority year long.

As a valuable community resource, we are dedicated to supporting families in their quest to live happy, productive and healthy lives. We hope that you look forward to each issue of Parent Magazine for fun and educational ways to achieve your goals, and we always appreciate your feedback!
